Contestant #3 – Doree Lynn Miles

After reading Doree’s reason for why she wants my ticket to the Frederick Chamber New Media and Technology Conference, please leave a comment with why she deserves it the most. At least put her name in the comment, so I can tell it is not a spam comment. Voting ends Wednesday, January 27 at 3:00 pm EST.

Although I am not a big fan of Willy Wonka (it kind of freaked me out as a child) I could definitely make good use of that “golden ticket.”

The benefits of attending the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce’s New Media and Technology Conference (#FredNMT) would be priceless. We are a very small non-profit agency with a very small budget with which we do great things by providing shelter and services to homeless women and their children.  We help families get back on their feet again by giving them hope and a future.

Doing more with less in this economy is the only option we have and social media/ marketing/ networking can help us achieve that goal. Our strategic plan directs me to increase awareness of homelessness issues, educate the community and promote philanthropy. I want to learn how I can incorporate new media in to an effective media strategy. I want to capture people’s imagination. I want to move them to want to make a difference. I want to tug on their heartstrings and (frankly) their wallets, too.

We have a Twitter account (@HopeAliveInc), a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HopeAliveInc) and a blog (www.hopealiveinc.blogspot.com), so I feel like we are one step ahead, but I don’t want to fall two steps back by not utilizing those tools correctly. Additionally, networking at the conference and learning from peers is something I can’t get by working in my cubicle in Sabillasville.

I appreciate this opportunity (pick me! pick me!) thanks for asking.

Hope Alive is an awesome organization, and I am amazed at what they have done with social media and events with such a small staff! Doree Lynn rocks!

No surprise that my vote is for Doree Lynn Miles of Hope Alive! I’ve been connected with this nonprofit since it began and am so proud of the good work they’re doing in our community. I know Doree works hard – and on a very tight budget – to share the stories of Hope Alive families and to raise awareness and support. Being able to attend this event for free would be a tremendous help to her and Hope Alive and ultimately to homeless moms and kids.

I vote for Doree Lynn at Hope Alive because Hope Alive does such miraculous work in the community!! They provide a wholistic program of housing, education and life skills that helps women and their children to transform and rebuild their lives, so they can be self-sufficient and live lives that enrich our community. Please join me in voting for them!!

I’d like to vote for Doree Lynn Miles because I truly believe in Hope Alive’s mission.

Sending my vote out for Doree Lynn!!!

I’d vote for Doree, as her goal and employment is purely non-profit. The other contestants have laudable goals but they also have for-profit interest in the content. Women and children suffer most from the negative stereotypes of homelessness and Hope Alive is one of the only agencies addressing this need in the community.

I’m voting for Doree Lynn because I really want to attend the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce’s New Media and Technology Conference!

I vote for Doree Lynn Miles because Hope Alive is a non-profit organization providing a tremendous service to women and children in our community. Doree Lynn and Hope Alive will truely benefit from her attendance to this Conference.

My vote is for Doree Lynn! She really does a lot for Hope Alive and is making every effort to use all the Social Media and Technology tools at her limited budget’s disposal. She’s been doing everything she can to learn and would use the conference to further her skills for such a great non-profit!

I vote for Doree Lynn!

I vote for Doree Lynn Miles. Not only is Hope Alive a wonderful organization that does wonderful work, Doree Lynn plays a key role in making Hope Alive’s mission a success.

Doree Lynn and the Hope Alive staff and volunteers work amazing wonders. I vote for Doree Lynn Miles!

Doree Lynn always captures my imagination and she is always wanting to find ways to improve Hope Alive bottom line. Hope Alive is making differences in families in Frederick County. Breaking that cycle of homelessness. So please vote for Doree Lynn so she may tug hard on those heartstrings and (frankly) their wallets, too!

I vote for Doree Lynn. Getting the word out about all the good that Hope Alive is doing will help so many women and children. There are a lot of needs that need to be met. A golden ticket would help her tap into all the technological options available, which will help as these women receive hope and start working toward a bright future.

At a time in our economy when being a Development Director is at its most challenging, Doree continues to creatively raise funds and awareness. Hope Alive brings hopefulness to the homeless — And to support Doree Lynn with a ticket to this conference would actually be supporting the future success of Hope Alive as well.

I vote for Doree Lynn! I’ve witnessed her hardwork firsthand for 3 years. I appreciate her gifts and dedication to the task of bringing hope to some of the most hopeless women and children in our community. Besides that she will probably transfer some of what she learns to technologically “challenged” folks like me.

Doree Lynn (contestant #3)and Hope Alive have my vote. Helping women and children can change the world, one family at a time. I’ve visited Hope Alive (and helped to paint their shed and weed their garden). It’s a wonderful place with a crucial mission.

Go Doree Lynn!!

After reading the three submissions for the Golden ticket, I believe that Doree Lynn would be the best candidate for the ticket. In her present position, she could immediately impact many with the new knowledge that she would gain from the conference. She has a proven track record for implementing technology and has no fear when it comes to “new” and “challenge.” Give her the ticket and watch for amazing things to happen!

My vote is for Doree Lynn Miles. I’m a little prejudiced because I’m blessed to have her as my daughter-in-law. But I believe she is the best candidate because of all the amazing work she has done at Hope Alive and will be able to continue to do with the new skills and knowledge she will acquire at the conference. Hope Alive is giving homeless women and their families the support they need for a new start in life. A vote for Doree will be a vote for all these women and children as well as all the future families who will be given the hope and opportunity for a new start at Hope Alive.

Hope Alive is an amazing organization. Considering the crossroads we find ourselves in this country and in our world, Hope Alive is responding to the needs of those who experience most harshly the realities of our economy and other grave situations for which there are limited resources (e.g., abuse, addiction recovery programs, etc.). I know firsthand the level of commitment Doree Lynn Miles maintains in her work; it is both professional and compassionate. Doree Lynn will undoubtedly put this opportunity to good use and it will ultimately serve people who need to know they are supported by the wider community. That is a message worth sending!

I would love to see Doree Lynn and Hope Alive win the golden ticket. She does great work for Hope Alive and I know that if she attends this conference I know she will make good use of the skills she learns.

Doree Lynndoes a great job atHope Alive. Hope Alive does a super job at reaclhng at risk mothers with children in MD.

My vote goes to Doree Lynn!

Doree Lynn has my vote as she shows selfless dedication to a job that is incredibly challenging. Her belief in the potentional of all of the residents at Hope Alive is unending and her desire to most fully utilize technology for the agency is to be applauded. In this world we live, homelessness should not be an issue. We have the resources. We have the strategies. Sadly we still have homelessness. Hope Alive is doing their part to remove the obstacle of homelessness from so many women and their children. Hope Alive stands in the success of these women until they can get there themselves. Ah…if we all would do the same…

I have personally sat down next to Mrs. Doree Lynn and watched her interact with the women and children of Hope alive, and I think she should win the contest. She ROCKS!!! :)

I vote for Doree Lynn. I have witnessed what a difference HopeAlive can make for women and children.

I vote for Doree Lynn! She will do wonders with what she learns from this event. She and the staff at Hope Alive work on a tight budget and are able to do soooo much with so little. This is just the perfect connection for Doree Lynn and the families she and Hope Alive are serving.

I vote for Doree Lynn. I have worked with Hope Alive in my capacity as Secretary and Director of The G. Frank Thomas Foundation, Inc., which has been a major contributor since Hope Alive’s founding. They all do wonderful work for women and children, who might otherwise be lost in the overwhelming pressures of trying to provide a meaningful
life in the current environment.

Hope Alive is a wonderful nonprofit organization that does so much to improve the lives of women and children. My vote is for Doree Lynn!

My vote is for Doree Lynn Miles. I know from her professionalism and hard work ethic that she would put this opportunity to good use.

My vote is for Doree from Hope Alive, because I’ve been there as a one-person nonprofit shop!

Doree Lynn

Doree present both the most compelling need for attendance at the conference and the best business plan for how well she would be able to capitalize on the investment.

Her non-profit status and the good works her organization does do not factor into my vote. Perhaps she has some experience grant-writing?

Terry

I vote for Doree Lynn!.. she is such a blessing to Hope Alive… she’s always cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable, and dedicated to the mission at hand…

My vote goes to Doree Lynn Miles!

My vote is always for Doree Lynn. She’s an amazing servant totally committed to advancing the mission of Hope Alive and transforming the lives of resident families. She has been a leader in Hope Alive’s fundraising and marketing initiatives since our early years and has recently led our efforts in expanding our online presence and launching us into social media networking. She rocks and without her we’d be stuck in a technology time warp! We can’t afford to send her to this conference which she wanted to go to last year, so please please give her your ticket!
